Monday, Ryan and I spent the entire day in the house because of the cold weather and the rain. He did pretty well, but I always feel bad when we don’t leave the house at all during the day. Ryan likes to get out just as much as I do. Since the sun was shining, I decided that yesterday we would leave the house.
I decided to take him Christmas shopping at the mall. Before we headed there, I had to run a couple errands. Thankfully, the car ride helped him fall asleep. I was able to run into my hair salon and grab what I needed, while he slept 10 feet away in the truck. Don’t worry everyone, I kept my eyes on the truck and it was early enough in the morning that no one was around. He was safe.
We made it to the mall and parked quickly, since the lunchtime eaters and shoppers weren’t there yet. I think we were there for almost 4 hours. Ryan was a trooper and barely made a peep. He flirted with the saleswomen, which helped him receive a green balloon, with a pink string and a red weight so it didn’t fly away. Odd pairing of colors, I know! It worked like magic.
Before we left, Ryan seemed to be tired again. I guess the 45 minute nap in the car wasn’t enough. I hooked him up with a milk bottle and his blankie while mommy finished shopping. Then we shared a pretzel with a side of warm cheese. Yum! That’s what we thought too.
He fell fast asleep during the 20 minute ride home. I was worried that he slept just enough that he wouldn’t want to take a decent nap in his crib when we got home. I took him out of the car seat and his head started wobbling around and his eyes were shut. Yup, he’s tired. I took him upstairs to his room with his blanket. He’s a blanket fanatic, like his mommy. I tried to set him down gently in the crib, but the blanket got stuck and I pretty much plopped him down instead. Woops! He started crying and screaming. Mommy made a boo-boo.
I let Ryan “cry it out,” just like they say to do. Sure enough, he slept until 5:30! I didn’t think he would ever wake up. He basically slept for a total of 5 hours yesterday. Crazy. Meanwhile, I got to take a quick nap, surf the net, and read a magazine!
I’m sure you’re wondering how he slept last night. Well, he went to bed an hour later than usual and woke up 45 minutes early. Go figure. The good thing is that he was so tired this morning, that he took a nap nice and early today. Awesome. What a good man!

I just had a flashback thanks to you! Pretzels and warm cheese………..we so used to eat those everyday in HS. Do you remember?
How funny! I totally forgot about eating those in HS. I do remember having candy bars and soda for lunch though!
