My quest to lose some of my extra chub is off to a great start! Last week I noticed I lost 4 pounds and I have managed to keep it off – so far. I guess watching what you eat really does work. Imagine that.
I have definitely turned down lots of tempting treats in the past couple weeks. No, I haven’t been perfect. It’s so hard when you are living in the moment, but it’s so worth it to Just. Say. No.
One of my tactics has been to look at the nutritional value of the many foods I’m tempted to eat. Yeah, that pretty much changes my mind in the few seconds it takes me to look up the calories online.
My current weakness is a McDonald’s 12 oz. Caramel Frappe that weighs in at a hefty 450 calories! Holy cow! It has the perfect amount of sweetness and coffee-less taste for my taste buds. The best part is that it only costs $2.29…way cheaper than good ole’ Starbucks. Ryan also thinks it’s pretty cool when he gets to have some of the whipped cream and caramel sauce at the top! It’s been days since we’ve had one of those and my mouth salavates just thinking about it!
Going on walks with Todd and Ryan have also been extremely helpful. Todd and I decided at our marriage retreat last weekend that we would go on a walk at least two times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes. I also try to get in a walk with Ryan during the day when Todd is at work. Getting out of the house keeps me and the kid happy. The stroller tends to hypnotize him. Good times.
I’m also trying to be a bit more conscious of what I’m cooking for dinner. I am sad to say I have not baked anything lately. I love having warm cookies and ice-cold milk for dessert. Watching what you eat sucks, but you definitely feel better down the road.
I’d like to lose another 5 pounds before I can get totally excited about any of this. I’ll keep you posted…

I’m in your same boat, but I am not having any luck so far.L Since I quit smoking almost a year ago, I have found that the weight doesn’t come off as fast as it use to. With that and Rob coming home last year I have about 15-20 lbs I would like to shed. This week I have started a food journal on an excel spreadsheet. Like you, I started looking at the nutritional table on everything I eat. I track Calories, Fat, and Carbohydrates. I do allow myself 4 cups of coffee with real creamer and 4 minis snickers bars for a day. Those two things start me off at 270/14/34 for a day…
Day One:
1637 64.4 216.7
Day Five*:
1105 29.5 159
*no snickers bars!
I find keeping a log holds me more accountable, plus it also lets me celebrate more when I do actually lower my intake. This last week I went to the gym for a total of 2 1/2 hours burning an extra 1169 calories.
I use this Web site for things that don’t have a table:

You don’t have to log in either. I just use the yellow search bar at the top.
Well good luck, I’m pulling for you! I just keep telling myself and I need to keep at it and eventually the weight has to come off!
Wow! It sounds like you are on the right track. You made a large improvement between day 1 and day 5. That should really help. I was bad and had some chocolate cake at a birthday party today. Blah!
Keep up the good work and it will definitely pay off!
You didn’t even need to lose the 4 lbs! You always look good to me!
Ah, you’re so good to me hubby!! Thanks for the compliment
Aww, Todds right, you always look good
Thanks for the input and advice on loosing the extra pounds.
I gots to loose that extra baby weight, by summer yicks!! So I guess that means watching what I eat, staying away from those delicious frappechinos and going on some walks with my hubby. Worth a try, hope it works.
You’re so sweet! I hear ya on trying to lose the baby weight. I don’t think my stomach will ever be the same. Maybe I should add sit-ups in addition to my walking? That would make sense! It’s not going to fix itself! Good luck trying to lose the baby weight. You can do it!
