Ryan is quickly approaching two and his behavior is showing it. He’s been crying over every single thing lately and it’s sooo exhausting! If I tell him “no” he will start screaming! He gets mad when he doesn’t get what he wants (but then again, don’t we all!). He hits me when he’s frustrated with me. Oh how I hate the hitting.
On a postitive note, he’s my helper around the house. He helps me make coffee, unload the dishwasher, sweep, and feed the dog. Sometimes he even likes to help me with the laundry by taking the clothes I nicely folded, then throw them in a ball back in the basket. This is so not helpful, but oh so cute because he thinks he’s doing a good thing.
Ryan looked really cute the other day, so I thought I’d take a pic, or two, and show you all.
He’s also graduated to a booster seat at the dinner table. He sat nicely, had his own plate of food (not a tray), and ate with his fork on his first attempt at sitting at the table. He only got 4 pieces of food on the floor too!
Ryan is starting to talk up a storm! Parents warned me about this, but I thought it would be great to finally hear him use words instead of sounds to let me know what he wants. Let me tell you though, sometimes I can’t get him to be quiet! His new thing is he likes to say someone’s name over and over again while we’re driving in the car. So if we are alone, just the two of us, he says, “Mama, Mama, Mama” until we get to our destination. If Todd is with us in the car, he’ll say, “Papa, Papa, Papa” again and again. Then when Grandma is in the car you hear…just kidding. I know you get the point. It sure makes my head hurt.
Anyway, he’s a total joy and I wouldn’t trade him for anything. I love my little guy! I can’t believe his second birthday is less than 4 months away. Where does the time go?
Oh, and thanks to all my faithful readers! As a blogger I LOVE comments, otherwise I feel like I’m writing each post for myself to read. In my left sidebar there’s a section, Top Monthly Commenters, that lists the commenters name and how many comments they have made in the past month. If you have a common name, you might want to add your last initial so you stand out, but the program knows who you are based on your email address. You must comment on my blog to be included, not Facebook. Also, if you comment on my actual blog I will be able to read what you wrote FOREVER! You never know, you might be the one to inspire a fellow reader. Your words are just as important as mine.
If you would like to receive all Heavenly Mommy posts by email, add your email address to the box that says “Subscribe” and you won’t miss a single post! Happy reading!

As much as we parents can’t wait for our babies to crawl, then walk then talk, it would be nice for some quiet time once in a while. Kids say the darndest things. Sophia pops off with comments that make us laugh so hard we cry. Age 2 is a very fun age but it has its bad moments. The word NO seems like a punishment and my day is not complete if I don’t hear “mama” at least 20 times. And that’s just in the first hour after she wakes up. I too wouldn’t trade being a mommy for anything. Its the best.
I still think it’s cute when he says “Papa, papa, papa, papa, papa, papa, papa, papa, papa, papa, papa, papa….” Well maybe the 12th one was a little annoying. But I love the little broken record!
No matter how frustrating life can be some times as a parent, none of us would change a thing about it! Cute blog Jen! I can hardly wait for my little princess to start talking
There is nothing better then waking up in the morning to her talking in her crib! Remind me I said that when she starts to repeat herself a million times like your little man!!
Jen, I wouldn’t change a thing either
I thought I couldn’t wait to hear Ryan talk too. It is cute. Most of the time! At least he’s cute more than he’s difficult. Ha, ha!
Its is so fun to read, listen and watch all the kids grow up. Sending Jackie off to college this year then reading your posts about Ryan, watching all of Mollies videos, makes me remember all the fun time I had with Jackie. It also makes me very happy that its you guys and not me, hahaha. As much as I cherish those days, I am very glad its you and not me. It reminds of the time I threw my very own temper tantrum in the middle of Wal-mart in response to Robby’s temper tantrum. I think it was the last time he ever threw on in public, lol. I had tried all the other tactics including leaving the store before any of the shopping I was there to do got done, reasoning, understanding, ect. But in the end, embarrassing him as much as he would embarrass me got the job done. Role reversal is a wonderful thing! So next time your in the car…just start saying his name over and over and over again, I would love to hear how he reacts.
Hey Anita,
I bet it’s nice to be past these early stages, but I’m sure even your kids at their age drive you crazy now and then? I am definitely going to try saying his name over and over. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m going to take him out after his nap, just so I can test him! Ha, ha!
Your son is SO cute. What a sweetie! I loved that stage. It will fly by quickly! Trust me! : )
