I feel like I’m 33 going on 63. It seems that every day of my life lately, I have some sort of pain or discomfort. This can’t be happening. I’m too young to fall apart.
For about 5 years now, I get these recurring headaches, basically migraines, that just beat up my head and all of my energy. It hurts to just sit on the couch. My doctor gave me some advice to take 4 Motrin every 4-6 hours for relief. Mind you, the recommended dosage is 1 every 4-6 hours. I must say that this does help my headache go away, but I hate taking so many pills. I’ve always been weird like that for some reason. It makes me nervous.
For the past 6 months now, I’ve had this horrible shoulder pain. Unfortunately, it’s from carrying my little Ryan around. Apparently he’s not so little anymore. I love that he wants me to hold him {most of the time} but it causes my pain to continue. Last week I went to see a physical therapist and she stretched out my shoulder blade and showed me some exercises I can do at home. And they hurt. I’m glad she said I don’t need to come back (at $40 a pop). As long as I keep doing my exercises, my shoulder should heal in about a month. Pretty much I just need to build up my shoulder muscles and watch my posture when I pick up Ryan.
For the past 2 days, I’ve had my headaches and cramps. Headaches and cramps. You know, Aunt Flo’s in town. (Sorry to all my male readers for the over-sharing) But I must say that all the Motrin I’ve been popping, has really relieved my shoulder pain. I guess there’s some good in all of this!
Disclaimer: Sorry if this post was a downer. It’s sole purpose was to illustrate the pain and discomfort of a stay-at-home mom. See folks…this is hard work!

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog:) Being a mom is hard enough… even without all those aches and pains you are having. IMO it gets easier as they get older… so hang in there.
My poor BFJ! I think as moms we forget to take care of ourselves sometimes and our bodies get tired. Try some “you” time each day that might help. I need to listen to my own advice
LOL
Yeah, that’s easier than it sounds! Unfortunately!
Hey girl. I feel you! ! ! I have a small tear, bursitis and a pinched nerve that ALL affect my shoulder and neck. It is terrible. Anthony makes fun of me and says I am already an old lady.
But, motrin never worked for me. Have you ever tried Aleve? ? ? The liquid gels are the best! ! ! I take 2 in am and 2 in pm. Really helps! ! ! Just a thought. And you can also add a couple extra strength Tylenol to the Aleve, but nothing else.
Miss you. Feel good! ! ! ~ Bird
So at least I’m not the only old young chick around here! He he! I’ve never really used Aleve – for anything- in my life. Maybe I’ll give that a try. Thanks!!
