As Of This Moment…Facebook Sucks

by Heavenly Mommy on July 23, 2010

Well, let me start out by saying that I suck too. There. I said it. That’s because last week I reset my Facebook password in order to add something on my blog. But last night I had to close down all the programs on my laptop and do a restart because my computer was getting all wacky on me. When I went to login to Facebook, I realized I couldn’t because I had changed my password.

Ordinarily, changing a password wouldn’t be a big deal because you would just write it down and then use that as a reference – if you needed to – during the login process. Well folks, not me. I have absolutely no idea what my new password is – and I made it up! Great job!

And guess what? When you lose your password on Facebook, you can’t just request them to email it to you. They don’t do that. Instead you have to send a request for a new password and then they send a link to your email inbox so you can then turn around and enter the link into your Facebook account and switch your password.

I heard one of you just say, “What’s the big deal?” Well, it isn’t a big deal – if they would only respond to my request! It has been 22 hours and I have not heard a word from Facebook.

I have checked my spam folder in my email account, sent the request a few more times, and nothing. I also sent a request to the Help Center saying that I did not receive an email to reset my password. They wrote a standard email back saying this at the very end…

“…Finally, note that writing in multiple times will not result in a faster response. Once you submit your initial request, it is placed in a queue and responded to accordingly. We appreciate your patience.

Thanks,

The Facebook Team”

Excuse me…Did you just say “we appreciate your patience” in your email to me? Patience is what you have when they send you a new password in a timely manner. Not when it takes 24 hours – or more. I lost all the patience in my body hours ago!

Facebook is a huge company, so I understand they may be busy, but this is just crazy. I’m pissed. And they want to start charging us to use their site? {So I’ve heard.} Does that mean customer service would be better? I’m sure it doesn’t.

This entire problem would have been eliminated if Facebook would just email people their passwords when they forget them {or if I would have just remembered my password. Shh.} Credit card companies do it. Why can’t Facebook?

Meanwhile I wait patiently for Facebook to contact me because at this point, I don’t know what else to do.

All my life lessons in patience have, generally speaking, taken way to long BUT what I have learned, maybe with age cause I am old is that good things do come to those who wait so I wish you many blessings. This all sounds so stressful so I am thinking you are deserving of a really nice one :)

Create a new profile make up another e-mail adress and do it that way and go and find all your frends, I know it takes time and it is very aggrivating but it might be the only way to get abck in.

I would definitely NOT advise getting another FB account….I did that remember? Started an account with a different email, then forgot all about it. Months later I got "serious" and started a FB account with my regular email address, having forgotten about my first attempt. Well, they kicked me off, saying shame on me for breaking their rules, etcetc. Okok, my mistake, so just delete the first unfinished sorta-account. Nope…can;t do that either. So it just sits there, haunting me, and its like a tatoo….permanent and unusable.
