Movin’ on up…at preschool!

by Heavenly Mommy on October 5, 2011

At the end of August, Ryan’s preschool had a train-themed graduation to celebrate the kids moving up to the next age level. Ryan only spent 4 months in the 2-year-old class because he was turning three in September, but most importantly, he was potty trained!!

Side note – - – I definitely believe he is potty trained because of preschool. He was using the potty a lot at home since he was 16 months old, but never to the point where he would initiate or be able to go without a diaper. Watching other kids his own age use the potty showed him it was something he should be doing, not just something we were making him do because we said so. Now if his teachers could come over and train him to not wear a diaper during nap and bed time, we’d be good!

Anyway it was really cute because they dressed all the kids up as train conductors with hats and bandannas. It was funny because the hat was kind of big so Ryan had to keep it up and out of his face the entire time. The kids went to the front of the room while the parents watched them sing some songs they learned during the year. Ryan doesn’t look too happy here. I think he was nervous!

Each student also got a certificate from their teacher with a word that describes their personality and then a quote from the Bible. Ryan’s word was – peaceful. Here’s a picture with his teacher giving him his certificate. He is definitely fond of her – and the feeling is mutual.

Once back at his seat, Ryan was smiling like normal again. He was back in his comfort zone!

Todd and I definitely feel confident that we chose the right preschool for Ryan. We’re looking forward to seeing all his new experiences in the 3-year-old class!
